This will be the first meeting of the Homeland Security dialogue which will seek to coordinate the counter-terrorism and law enforcement cooperation as it relates to the internal security of the respective countries.

Activities of various extremist groups and security issues concerning both the countries are expected to be discussed by Chidambaram and his American counterpart Napolitano during the day-long meeting on May 27, official sources said.

Security situation in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan, in the wake of the killing of al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden, is likely to be discussed by the two leaders.

Napolitano's arrival will be the first high-level visit from the US after President Barack Obama's tour to India in November 2010.

Chidambaram had visited the US in January 2009 when he had extensive discussions with Napolitano.
