BSY directs officers to shift jail to outskirts of M'lore

CM pays tribute to crash victims symbolically

Speaking to presspersons here on Sunday, he said that the government has plans to shift all those jails, which are situated within the city limits across the State six to seven kilometre away from the city.

“The already constructed new jail building in Mangalore will be utilised for other productive purposes and the jail will be shifted to outskirts soon,” he said.

Runway expansion

The CM  said that the government has released Rs 15 crore for the expansion of runway in Mangalore airport. A sum of Rs 8 crore has been released to develop airport road. “Measures will be taken to get international tag for Mangalore airport,” he added.

Floral tribute

Yeddyurappa who landed at Mangalore airport symbolically paid floral tribute to the victims of Mangalore aircrash on its first anniversary. However, he did not visit the crash site. Later, in the pressmeet, he expressed his condolence and said “May their souls rest in peace.”

To a query on Pejawar seer Vishweshwatheertha giving ultimatum to the state government to withdraw the notification for land acquisition for the II phase of Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) and setting right the loopholes in UPCL, he said that he will take a decision on the withdrawal of notification after holding discussion with the officials.

He said “I will hold discussion with the Pejawar seer and tell him the reality.”
