The next ‘bahu’

The super bahus of the small screen, Parvati and Tulsi have left behind heirs to their crowns. There is a whole new lot of bahus — Sara Khan, Parul Chauhan, Smita Bansal, Avika Gor, Neha Marda, Prabhleen Sandhu, Natasha Sharma and Priyanka Mishra.

The latest entrant to this list is Sneha Wagh aka Jyoti of Sphere Origin’s Jyoti.

Sneha who plays a very mature and responsible bahu says, “The character has a lot of shades. She has been a responsible daughter and sister, and now a sensible wife and bahu too. The fact that she plays the wife of a blind person adds a lot of challenge to the character.”

Today in every show, there are many actresses portraying the role of a daughter-in-law. So who is Jyoti’s favourite bahu? “According to me, Tulsi has been the best bahu on screen. I have always admired her in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She was a strong character and always fought for the truth.” With so many bahus already in line, only time will tell where Jyoti stands in the list.

Anandi to tie ‘rakhi’

Vikrant Massey aka Shyam of Balika Vadhu is eagerly waiting for Raksha Bandhan. “My mother is a Hindu, so we celebrate rakhi every year. I don’t have a sister but my cousin ties rakhi for me every year. Unfortunately, this year she won’t be here with me,” says Vikrant.

But if you are thinking Vikrant will be left alone on this auspicious occasion, you are mistaken. There is someone to make up for her sister’s absence, and she is none other than Avika Gor (Anandi). “Avika is like a younger sister to me and she would be tying me a rakhi on this auspicious day,” says Vikrant excitedly.
