Injured Gambhir may miss Windies tour

Confirming the injury here during his post-match press do on Wednesday, the left-hander said he has had a scan but was yet to know the extent of damage. “Absolutely,” he said when asked about reports of him undergoing a precautionary scan. “I haven’t got the report yet. I still need to speak to the physio. I will do that after I reach the dressing room because he did not want to discuss (the injury) with me before the match,” he noted after the Kolkata Knight Riders lost by four wickets against Mumbai in the IPL IV Eliminator.
“It’s hurting me, I can’t throw. During the last game I fell while sliding. After that I threw one ball and then went for an MRI scan, but I don’t know what the report says exactly,” he added.

Despite the defeat, Gambhir sought to look at positives from the tournament. “Taking it to the last over, showed the kind of character the team has. As a team, we have come a long way as in where we were. I think we have improved a lot,” he remarked.

“There were no egos,” pointed out Gambhir when asked about his experience of leading Knight Riders. “I’m really lucky to lead such a side. I can’t say much about my captaincy but you can’t be a good captain without a good team,” he offered.

Mumbai all-rounder James Franklin said his team was looking forward to next contest against Royal Challengers Bangalore. “They are a tough side. They lost yesterday, but they have done consistently well in the last two weeks, hopefully we’ll play two more games and go all the way.”
