Igenius scholarship programme

Max New York Life Insurance has announced igenius 2011, a unique parent-child engagement initiative to support all-round child development.

The igenius scholarship programme involves a multiple-level evaluation process that has been conceptualised in association with Derek O'Brien. Children from the 3rd to the 8th standards can participate in this programme and win more than 1000 prizes worth Rs 1 crore.

The scholarship has been divided into two categories – Junior (3rd to 5th standards) and Senior (6th to 8th standards). Winners in the junior and senior categories will receive scholarships of Rs 10 lakh each.

Children can be registered for the igenius Scholarship 2011 online by filling up the registration form at http://www.igenius.org/igeniusregistration.aspx. Alternatively, you can get igenius scholarship registration forms from any of the Max New York Life offices. Registrations close on June 15, 2011.

Astronomy classes for PUC students

A short duration course in basic Astronomy for PUC students will be conducted at the M P Birla Institute of Fundamental Research (MPBIFR), Bangalore from June 13, 2011 to June 29, 2011.

The syllabus includes basic concepts of Astronomy and Astrophysics like understanding the celestial sphere, knowing the properties of stars, sun and solar system, the structure of our galaxy, cosmological aspects like origin of the universe, the concept of dark matter and so on.

A field trip to the Radio Observatory at Gauribidanur will also be arranged.
Applications on prescribed forms can be submitted at the Institute on or before Friday June 10, 2011.

Zakath fund-scholarship scheme

Bazm-e-Niswan Charitable Trust has called for applications for financial assistance, from Zakath funds, for Muslim girls, pursuing higher studies after SSLC, and securing 50 per cent and above.

Students pursuing PUC, degree and other courses, and those securing free seats from CET for BE, MBBS and BDS are eligible for the scholarships. Application forms at Rs. 15 each will be issued until June 10, from 11 am to 3 pm at Bazm-e-Niswan Charitable Trust No. 37, Muniswamy Road, Bangalore-5600051. Last date: June 20, 2011.

Pragati Educational Foundation, Bangalore, a registered charitable organisation has invited applications for merit-cum-means scholarships for PUC entrants interested in continuing onto Engineering / Medicine.
