Last Updated 28 May 2011, 17:45 IST

The case relates to the one  registered against Dutt for allegedly delivering a controversial speech at an election rally in the district during the 2009 Lok Sabha poll.

Judicial magistrate Krishna Kumar, while issuing the non-bailable warrant, posted the matter for further hearing for July 8. Dutt has been charged with making a controversial speech at the election rally organised in favour of the Samajwadi Party candidate from the Mau Lok sabha seat Arshad Jamal in April 2009.

A case of violation of the model code of conduct had been registered against the actor at Kotwali police station.

Several notices

The court had earlier issued several summons to the actor but he failed to appear in the court.

Taking a strong view of the failure of the actor to appear before the court, it issued a non-bailable warrant on Saturday and directed the police to serve it on the actor.

Munnabhai has been facing several court cases in Uttar Pradesh. Cases against him have been lodged in Barabanki and Pratapgarh also for similar speeches.

Dutt, during his election rallies, had offered to give Bahujan Samaj Party supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati “jadu ki jhappi” (magical hug) if she was willing.
