A hair-raising tale

funny experience Kangana (left) and Ritesh.Reliance Entertainment and Maruti International’s much-anticipated Double Dhamaal is generating a lot of buzz thanks to its unique costumes, getups and gags.

Well, here’s a funny incident from the sets of the film, created thanks to one of the costumes.

During the shoot of the song Oye Oye, the rights of which were bought from T-Series for its remake, Kangana Ranaut had scenes wherein she had to get close to co-star Ritesh Deshmukh. Just a usual scene for any actor right? However, Kangana had a lot of obstacles doing so thanks to Ritesh’s African retro disguise!

As Ritesh was wearing a huge Afro wig as part of his costume, Kangana couldn’t perform her scenes, which included a kiss on Ritesh’s cheek, as the wig kept coming in between them. After a lot of takes and enormous laughter on the sets, they managed to shoot it somehow, with different dance moves, thanks to the brilliant choreographer Ganesh Acharya.

Says a source from the sets, “Ritesh has this huge Afro wig as part of his costume and it kept coming in between him and Kangana every time she had to get close to him as part of the song. We tried combing it down but nothing helped. Finally, thanks to the maestro Ganesh Acharya, we managed to shoot around the wig.”

Well, a wig coming in between the hero and heroine, now that’s a first! Watch out as this laugh riot hits theatres on June 24.

Specially meant for Kareena

“It’s not an item number but an integral part of the plot. So why should another actor have been approached for it,” Kareena retorts.

“It was always going to be picturised on me. It’s a very desi track. Ganesh Hegde has choreographed the song, which has me in a sexy Indian look, complete with a nose ring and jhumkas (earrings).”

A crazy request

Simi Garewal’s new chat show features some of the most desirable actors and actresses, who talk about their experiences in the industry. Young actor Shahid Kapoor was happy to be on the show but he was amused to get a terse command from the lady asking him to come on sets wearing the Indian Air Force uniform that he dons in his forthcoming film Mausam.

Shahid was taken back by this instruction and checked with his producers if they could get permission from the Air Force authorities to do so. However, the officials turned down the request saying the uniform was only allowed to be used on a film set. Hence, Kapoor will be seen in his regular casuals on the show.

Not with them!

exposed Mallika SherawatMallika Sherawat is in the news again. Apparently for Shalu, an item number in Bin Bulaye Baraati, she refused to shoot with the other actors.  Veteran actors like Gulshan Grover, Om Puri and Johnny Lever were supposed to be a part of the song.

Though most of them were not going to dance, they were going to watch the sexy siren dance. But Madam Sherawat refused to be seen in the same frame with them.
Gulshan confirms that he shot separately with other actors but expressed ignorance on the reason.

“Om Puri and I shot separately. It could be due to time constraints, cost cutting or date problems. But it was a bit strange to shoot separately,” says Gulshan Grover.

‘Songs have become cheap nowadays’

Bollywood is rapping to the tunes of fast tracks, new age lyrics and sexy item numbers. This new trend is fast catching up with popular tracks like Bhaag Bhaag DK Bose from Delhi Belly and Character Dheela from ‘Ready’. But it looks like the veterans of the industry are not liking this change in genre.

“I am not happy with the kind of songs that are being made today, especially the bold item numbers. They have become very cheap. Earlier, people used to hum film songs with their family but today, you will have to think twice before doing so,” says legendary singer Asha Bhosle.

‘I was misquoted’

Saif Ali Khan was drawn into a controversy recently when he commented on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s regular appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. About Ash appearing at the festival every year, with or without a film to promote, Saif had said, “Maybe because she is a pretty face!” Needless to say, this remark sparked a controversy.

News websites picked up Saif’s remark saying how the actor feels that Ash is just a pretty face. A website even went ahead to say that an actor, however big or small, would definitely feel angry on being referred to as just a pretty face. However, Saif is shocked to hear about the misinterpretation of what he had to say about Ash.

“I was asked about the relevance of Ash going to Cannes and I said she is the international face of India. I said we should be proud of her. Only one website quoted me complimenting Ash, which is what I meant in the first place. But others have misquoted me. I would never say something like that about her.”
