JD(S) to boycott legislature session

Last Updated 30 May 2011, 19:46 IST

The JD (S) legislature party meeting held in Bangalore on Monday took a decision to this effect.

"The Supreme Court has quashed the disqualification of 16 MLAs, and has also passed strictures against the Speaker and the chief minister. The two  should have resigned immediately and honoured the Constitution, for they have no moral authority to continue holding office. Since they didn't yield to our demands, the JD (S) has decided to boycott the proceedings of both the Houses," party State president H D Kumaraswamy told mediapersons.

JD (S) supremo H D Deve Gowda, JD (S) MLA H D Revanna and 22 other legislators from both Houses participated in the meeting.

Chikkaballapur MLA K P Bachhe Gowda who attended the meeting said that JD (S) would issue advertisements in leading newspapers explaining to the people of the State, especially the people of constituencies represented by JD (S) legislators, the reason for the decision.
