NCC to have seven new units in State

The new units will come up in North Bangalore, Chitradurga, Haveri, Chikkaballapur,
Ramanagar, Mandya and Koppal.

More cadets

The directorate expected to induct as many as 20,000 cadets in the next five years, he said. Deshpande said the North Bangalore unit would start from the coming academic year and 660 cadets would be enrolled beginning July.

These units will be in addition to the existing units in Bangalore (two groups), Belgaum, Bellary, Mysore and Mangalore.

At present, the Directorate of Karnataka and Goa has about 74,000 cadets from 835 institutions and eight universities.

Another 420 institutions have registered and are on the waiting list.
