KGF legislator's house burgled

Sampangi and his family live on the 9th Cross, Ambedkar colony, Hongasandra in Madiwala police limits.

According to police, the theft took place when the MLA and his family members were away from the City.

The thieves disconnected the power supply and broke open the front door to gain entry.

"The theft came to light on Tuesday morning when some tenants called me up and explained the incident. It took place when we were in Kolar Gold Fields. The thieves might have watched the movements of the people in the house and then committed the theft,” the legislator told Deccan Herald.

Sampangi said valuables worth around Rs 20 lakh were missing. However, his wife Renuka put the figure at Rs four lakh.

Usurer arrested

The Central Crime Branch police arrested a usurer on Tuesday and recovered blank cheques, on-demand promissory notes, autorickshaw permits and other documents, a cellphone, and Rs 25,000 in cash from him.

The suspect has been identified as S V Sridhar (60), a resident of Chunchaghatta on  Kanakapura Main Road.

Police raided the ground floor of Bhagyodaya Credit

Co-operative Society Limited on 50 Feet Road, Fifth Main, Girinagar, and arrested Sridhar, who allegedly extended loans at exorbitant rate of interest.
