NC attacks PDP over allegation against Omar

"PDP has just one purpose of creating turbulence. Neither they want development of the state, nor it wants to see the people of Kashmir settled," NC President Farooq Abdullah said when asked to comment on the issue.

"They (PDP) have no other work. First day, PDP made an attack on the Speaker and next day levelled allegations against the Chief Minister," he said.

Abdullah, however, parried questions on whether Omar will take back his resignation after the CBI said the Chief Minister's name does not figure in its charge sheet.

Omar had on Tuesday resigned after senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Beigh alleged that he was involved in the 2006 sex scandal and pressed for its acceptance if there is any basis in it.

Stunned by the allegation, the Chief Minister immediately announced his decision to resign till he was cleared of the "blemish" and shortly later drove to Raj Bhawan and tendered his resignation to Governor N N Vohra.
