Providing retail sector with trained manpower

The main purpose is to leverage business experience by providing trained manpower to the retail sector in particular and to business in general.

FLDL will provide short term certificates, diplomas, undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses and non certificate programmes. The uniqueness of these programmes is that apart from graduates even class 8 students, who have completed 18 years of age can apply for them, thereby not restricting education to a select few.

Application forms are available at FLDL centers in Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Kolkata. One can also download the application form from the FLDL website: www.fldl.in. Interested students have to fill the application form in detail and submit or mail it to the FLDL centre Ahmedabad/ Bangalore/ Kolkata.

Kruben Moodliar,Chief Executive Officer, FLDL said: “The association with IGNOU will help us leverage our understanding and expertise in the field of retail to educate all those aspiring to make a career in this sector.” The programme details are as follows:
Joint Certification Programmes (Credit): Three-year certificate leading to BBA in Retail; Three-year certificate leading to BBA in Entrepreneurship; Two-year certification leading to MBA in Retail; and Two-year certificate leading to MBA in Entrepreneurship. All these credit programmes will be offered under modular approach following semester system and fees will be charged on annual basis.

Non Credit Programmes: Certificate programme in Retail Skills; Certificate programme in Skin & Hair (Beauty & Wellness); Certificate programme in Retail Operations; Certificate in Retail Apparel; Certificate in Food Retail; Certificate in Retail GMS – (General Merchandise); Certificate in Retail Homes; Certification in Introduction to Logistics; Certificate in Cashiering; Certificate in Soft Skills; Certificate programme in Executive Development; Karakul (A certificate programme in Self Development); Conversational English; and  Certificate in Introduction to Customer Service.

Eligibility Criteria for BBA in Retail and Entrepreneurship: While class 12 students will be eligible to enrol for a BBA programme in Retail and Entrepreneurship, non class 12 students will first be admitted to IGNOU’s BPP programme. Upon successful completion of BPP, they would be eligible to get into BBA in Retail/Entrepreneurship.

Eligibility Criteria for MBA in Retail/Entrepreneurship: Anyone with a graduate or equivalent qualification from a recognised higher learning institution can enrol for this course. However, preference will be given to those who have completed BBA in Retail and Entrepreneurship.
