Kudige-Shirangala road a nightmare for travellers

Last Updated 29 July 2009, 18:32 IST

The road has been chipped off and has huge potholes. Heavy rains have worsened the situation as the roads are covered with loose mud and muck, rendering it unfit for motor vehicles.

The residents of the region had been asking the government to repair the road as the condition of the road deteriorated since last 8 years. But the government has failed to respond to the demands of the people.

The condition of road passing through Kanive, Hebbale, Thorenoor, Shirangala is the same. There are no proper drains on either sides of the road. Due to this, the rainwater flows on the road and sometimes even gets stagnated.

Thorenoor Suryodaya Self Help Group representatives T B Jagadish and K S Krishnegowda say that local residents of Thorenoor, Shirangala and Hebbale had staged a road block demanding Public Works Department to repair the road, but this has not yielded any fruit so far.

ZP Member H S Ashok said that there are news that government has sanctioned Rs 40 crore for development of Makutta road. Hence, MLA from the region must take action immediately to pressurise the government to release some funds for repair of this road too.
