Last Updated 07 June 2011, 03:04 IST

The protest was staged opposing the arrest of Baba Ramadev who was on an indefinite strike against corruption in New Delhi.

Addressing the protestors, Hindu Jana Jagruthi Samiti member Satyajith said “it is not the first time that a conspiracy was made against Baba Ramadev. When the medicines produced in Baba’s Ashram gained popularity, false allegations were made against him of using animal bones in the medicine. Now again, the Central government has backstabbed Baba by interrupting in his peaceful fight against corruption. All the acts aim at defaming Baba,” he said.

He asked why the Government did not use any investigative agency to arrest those who were posing life threat to Baba Ramdev. If at all the claims of the government on interrupting Baba’s protest with good intention was true, then the government would not have used police force to disperse the crowd, he alleged.

Earlier inaugurating the protest, Patanjali Yoga Samiti Vice-president Srinath Hegde said “the Congress which had once resorted to Satyagraha during freedom struggle, has now deviated from its principles by using lathi to disperse those involved in Satyagraha.”

Lokananada from Arya Samaj performed Yaga praying for the peace and stability of the nation.
