Jumbos trek 40 km

The reason for why the tranquiliser failed to act on the marauding tusker was due to hyper activeness of the animal. If the body is active the adrenaline produces more in the body and it negates the effect of the tranquiliser.

Same thing happened in the case of the tusker which is about 8-10 years. In fact, the forest staff shot at least three to four rounds of tranquiliser at the tusker but it became semi-concious only after nearly two hours. It came to resting position after settling itself in a bushy area at the Dhobhi Ghat situated adjacent to the Kukkarahalli Tank.

It regained conscious after the forest staff poured water on its body.
