KIADB reckless in land acquisition: HC

Last Updated 09 June 2011, 18:37 IST

Nataraj allegedly sold off 4.2 hectares of land in survey no 6 of Jala hobli, Singenahalli without being its owner to the KIADB for a sum of Rs 2.51 crore.

The Board issued a notice to Nataraj demanding the refund of the sale amount since the latter did not own the land. Nataraj challenged the notice before the Court.

‘Murky dealings’

Justice D V Shylendra Kumar observed the murky dealing could not have been possible without the involvement of the Board’s Special Land Acquisition Officer.

The court upheld KIADB’s contention that Nataraj was not the owner of the land. It, however, remarked that the Board was reckless in acquiring land.

The court ordered notice to the State government.
