Captaincy of Mumbai Heroes, he says, came to him as a result of the many charity matches he has played. “It was only natural for them to choose me. And I love the sport and believe that most of the players in the Mumbai Heroes team are decent cricketers,” he says.

Fit as ever, Suniel tells Metrolife that it was strange to face Karnataka Bulldozers especially since it is the State that he was born in. “Funnily, Karnataka is my janma bhoomi and Mumbai is my karma bhoomi. So while I love the State, my loyality during this league will be with Mumbai. And we are just going to enjoy ourselves at the end of the day,” he says.

On movies front Suniel says that his fans are going to be in for a treat as he will soon star in an action-cum-comedy film called Action Loot. “I have always enjoyed comedy. Some of my favourite films have been comedies. In this film I play the role of a bouncer,” he says.

And for all those fans who enjoy Suniel in a ‘macho hero’ avatar, Suniel says that talks are on to get back into action films. “It’s been a while since I have done an action film. Fans have always liked me in a tough look. That’s why I am soon signing a movie that will see me play a tough cop. It’s going to be very demanding and since I have a bad shoulder right now. I’m still discussing the script,” he states.

As for coming down to Sandalwood, Suniel says that he always wanted to act in a Kannada movie. “I am open to acting in Kannada films provided  I get a script that will excite me to make a debut here,” he signs off.
