Passing the order, CBI judge Vasant Kumar Singh fixed June 16 for as the taking up deposition of witnesses in the sensational MLA murder case.

Rupam, principal of a local girls’ school, had on January 3 killed the Purnia MLA, who allegedly raped her over three years. After much brouhaha, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recommended a CBI inquiry into the case on January 8.

The CBI formally took over the investigation on February 23 and concluded that Rupam did not intend to kill the legislator. According to the CBI charge sheet, the investigation (into the legislator’s murder case) could not establish that Rupam intended to commit the murder.
