CM in M M Hills: Launches various development works

He was speaking after inaugurating various development works and foundation laying organised by the District administration and Department of Religious Endowment at the MM Hills on Saturday and said that he had walked in and around the MM Hills both in the morning and evening and an idea about the hills.

Every four months lakhs of people visit MM Hills. When such a mammoth gathering happens, he would also come and stay with them. The officials concerned have so far not bothered to provide water for  toilet purposes to these pilgrims who trek all the way up the hills. Hence, nearly 20 to 25 bathrooms, toilets specially for women, rooms to stay for the night will all be provided, he said and added that the Hills will be developed in such a way that it will become a model for the whole State.

The officials have been directed to develop the hillock next to MM Hills along the lines of Hubli-Dharwad. If the hillock is developed, then the pilgrims who visit the Hills should feel like staying here for three more days.  A master plan has already been made for this. It has been decided to have a musical fountain, commercial complex and marriage hall in the name of donors. In a year, sanction should be given to commence all the works and they should be completed. Every three monts the works will be inspected. Those officers who do not deliver, will be transferred within 24 hours, he warned.

People’s participation

The golden chariot here has lost its sparkle. It has been directed to polish the chariot every three months. Every temple in the State should be developed. Permanent drinking water, roads and kalyanis will be developed. The donors should take up the responsibility of repairing the steps from Talebetta to MM Hills. It is not because the Government does not have funds, but people should also participate in such holy ventures, he said.

Funds will be granted for the development of Hogenkal road. Funds have been released for the repair of roads leading to the hills.

The contractors should provide an estimate and work completed within 15 days, said Yeddyurappa. As the roads in the State are not in good condition, ` 13,000 crore will be spend to develop 15, 000 km of roads. Just like the Global Investors’ Meet where ` 50, 000 crore investments came, a Global Farmers Meet will also be held. In a year, the State will become a hut-free State, he said.

The legislators’ demands will be completed within five years. As a representative of six crore people, he would concentrate on development both inside the Assembly and outside, he said. The local representatives instead of focusing on their families should focus on people’s problems, he added.
