EXCITED Akshay KumarMaking a grand entry

Actor Akshay Kumar is in action mode — on one hand, he is hosting Khatron Ke Khiladi 4 while on the other, he flagged off the opening scene of ‘Housefull 2’ by shooting a parachute stunt on the outskirts of London.

“Akshay has never done anything like this before and he was really excited. I was cool because I knew the greatest stuntman in the country will pull off the shot effectively. I couldn’t have asked for a better first shot,” said director Sajid Khan.

After getting the required permits to shoot in a residential area of London, the 43-year-old star took free-fall tests to parachute into the opening scene.

“The scene is integral to the story and not just a publicity gimmick. We have kept it strictly under wraps because with six cameras stationed on the sets, we wanted to capture people’s reactions as Akshay jumped down from the heavens above,” said Khan.

Co-produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Eros International, ‘Housefull 2’ is a sequel to the 2010-release ‘Housefull’.

Apart from Akshay, the film also stars John Abraham, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Asin Thottumkal, Zarine Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Jacqueline Fernandez and Mithun Chakraborty.

Hinting at a sequel

With X-Men: First Class opening last week, James McAvoy has already been talking about the possibility of a sequel. “Ideally you have a story arc that lasts three movies and at the end of the third, it leaves you ready for the story in ‘X-Men 1’,” stated a very excited James McAvoy!

James wants the potential sequel to explore the complexity of Xavier and Magneto’s relationship. “Let’s not just make Magneto the bad guy,” he says. “Of course he has a whole different ethos but making a movie that is black-and-white is going to lose the thing that we have in this one.”

The star also acknowledges that at the end of ‘First Class’, everyone is left with the big question — “How does he lose his hair?”

In the comics, Xavier’s baldness coincides with the activation of his powers in childhood. Obviously, the films will have their own explanation, with McAvoy hoping that it can be worked in as “a cool story point”, before joking that it might be down to “some dodgy Australian shampoo!” The movie released on June 10 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Confident: Angelina JolieExploring the world with ‘Salt’

Actress Angelina Jolie will reportedly reprise her role as Evelyn Salt for the sequel of ‘Salt’ after Sony Pictures commissioned writer Kurt Wimmer to press ahead with a screenplay.
Jolie has always been open about wanting to do a sequel of the movie because she thinks there is more to discover from her character.

“I’d love to do a sequel. You never know if you are going to get the chance, if audiences are going to love it. But particularly with this character, I think there is so much yet to explore in her life with her — with her family, with coming to terms with who she is in the end, because of the way it’s set up, she could be anybody,” says Jolie.

“She could be in any country, she could speak any language, and so we have a lot of opportunities. As an actress, and somebody who loves to travel, it would be nice to be able to explore the world with her,” she adds.

The 2010 release ‘Salt’, directed by Phillip Noyce, was about a CIA agent — played by Angelina Jolie — who goes on the run after a defector accuses her of being a Russian spy.

Friends for life

Artist M F Hussain’s association with actress-director Nadira Babbar’s theatre group, Ekjute, lasted for years. He was a family friend and would often drop by at her parents’ home.

Says Nadira, “He found joy in the simplest of things. Once when he arrived, we weren’t at home. So he sketched a painting on the door and left. We were living in a rented home. And the landlord was livid when we told him we wanted to take the door with us while moving out.”

An age-old connection

It turns out that singer Sunidhi Chauhan’s connection with actress Raveena Tandon is an age-old one.
During Kalyanji Anandji’s tour to Bahamas in 1994, in which Bollywood-biggies like Amitabh Bachchan, Raveena Tandon, Manisha Koirala and Sridevi participated, was a little bundle of talent, Sunidhi Chauhan. Being a part of Kalyanji Anandji’s music academy, the 11-year-old toured for the first time with the then A-listers.
Seen with the Mast Mast girl Raveena Tandon, the coy little Sunidhi, clad in a salwar kameez, became the centre of attraction for the actress. Interestingly, it's the same sparkler who has sung an item song Main Chandigarh Di Star for Raveena in Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap, which is slated for release on July 1.

‘I am single’

He is tall, fair and handsome — and much to the delight of many women, now Arunoday Singh also says he is single. But alas, he is quick to add that he isn’t looking out for a relationship.

“I am not dating anyone as I am not looking for a relationship. I like girls, they like me and I have many female friends. They are busy and I am busy. They go off to
different countries for work and when we meet, we catch up. We get along well when we are together,” says Arunoday, denying any link up with any co-actress.

The 30-year-old actor is currently shooting for Ek Bura Aadmi in Udaipur and says his favourite Bollywood actors include Irrfan Khan and Tabu.
