JOIN USThe man, identified as Musheer, killed his daughter Nagma with an axe, while she was sleeping on the roof of her house at Meerapur village on Sunday night, according to police sources here.
Musheer, who is a carpenter by profession and had returned from Saudi Arabia a few months back, has been arrested while the victim’s mother has been absconding, sources said.
‘Illicit affair’
According to reports Nagma was having an affair with a youth of the same village for the past two years . Her mother did not approve of their relationship.
Musheer, after coming home from Saudi Arabia, was told by his wife about the affair following which he imposed restrictions upon her movement.
“Nagma had been confined to her home for several days and was not allowed to venture out,” sources said.
Musheer had also fixed her marriage in a nearby village thinking that Nagma would relent and agree to the marriage but Nagma refused to desert her lover. An angry Musheer then killed her on Sunday night and told the village pradhan about the murder.
Musheer, who admitted to the crime, said he had no regrets over the incident. “I have no regrets for the crime ... I could not have allowed her to marry someone I did not like... her deeds harmed our prestige,” he told the police during interrogation.
