“Indian business community will be able to invest in different sectors such as banking, tourism and so on. We aspire to become one of the most developed nations in Europe and the world and hence, we rely on investment. We will do whatever is necessary to help investment,” Pahor said, addressing the CII event here.

Terming Slovenia as what could become India’s gateway to Europe, Pahor said, “India and the former Yugoslavia (of which, Slovenia was a republic) shared a good relationship. Presently, Slovenia happens to be the only republic from the region to become a member of the European Union and a full member of Eurozone.”

The Prime Minister, who is leading a 40 company business delegation from various sectors averred that despite economic turmoil in Europe and bailouts given to Portugal, Greece and Ireland, his country is in a safe zone and is aiming to help the aggrieved nations.

Slovenia is too small to finance itself to meet its goal of becoming one of the most developed countries in the European Union and worldwide, he said. “We desperately need foreign investment”. Pahor will be visiting two major IT companies in City on Thursday.
