Chikkadevasandra B-One centre to be re-inaugurated

BJP MLA Nandish Reddy will re-inaugurate the centre that was earlier launched by Congress corporator K Poornima.

Officers rue

“Normally, for all other centres in the City, it is the MLA and the corporator who invite people in the locality for inauguration. But the MLA is expecting us to do it,” an official from the e-governance department remarked.

What has exasperated the officials is that Reddy, for the past five months, has been adamant on inaugurating the centre, although he has no  time for it. Some say there is no assurance he will turn up for the June 22 ceremony.

“It is one of our bigger centres with nine counters. It is a shame to keep it shut because of political differences. We never had this problem in any other area in Bangalore, even when the parties of the corporator and MLA were different,” another officer rued.

Political differences

On June 11, the centre was inaugurated by corporator K Poornima, after Nandish Reddy, the chief guest, failed to turn up saying he was busy.

An hour after the inauguration, BJP supporters turned up at the centre and assaulted the BangaloreOne local coordinator seeking to know how the centre was inaugurated without the presence of the MLA.

The local coordinator, who was assaulted, has resigned his job.
