'Nairmalya' award presentation on June 20

 Speaking to the media persons on Friday, he said all the Gram Panchayats in the district have recieved Nirmala Grama award in the year 2009-10. When Nirmala Grama programme was launched, as many as 1,56,558 houses had toilet facilities and now an added number of 94,970 houses which lacked toilet facilities then, are offered with toilet facilities. It includes 59,438  BPL families and 35,537 APL families, he informed.

The Central government has given the prize money of Rs 1.67 crore in the year 2006-07, it has given Rs 2.66 crore in the year 2007-08, while award money of Rs 44 lakh was given for the year 2008-09 and the same amount is yet to be given, said Shivarame Gowda, adding that Belthangady, Puttur and Bantwal taluks have recieved block-level cleanliness award from the Central government. These taluks are eligible to get reward of Rs 20 lakh each.

ZP President Shailaja Bhat informed that a programme will be held at Zilla Panchayat Hall to felicitate various Gram Panchayats and schools in the district which have won State government’s Nairmalya award in the year 2009-10. The awards will be given to the awardees on June 20 at 11 am.
