Bhanot remains AFI secretary

Last Updated 17 June 2011, 16:35 IST

The Annual General Meeting of the AFI decided on Friday to retain Ravinder Chowdhury, who was made acting secretary before the Commonwealth Games last year, in the same post.

“AFI secretary can be removed if he himself resigns or there is a no-confidence motion against him. In the absence of these, Bhanot remains the secretary,” a top AFI official, who attended the AGM here, told PTI.  The AGM approved the appointment of Kripal Singh by the executive committee last month as the treasurer of AFI.

It also made a minor change in the athletics calendar with National Open Athletics now being scheduled in Kolkata from September 10-13. It was earlier scheduled to be held in Ranchi from September 22-25.

The AGM also finalised foreign training stints for athletes, apart from taking stock of the foreign coaches who would be part of the preparations for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
