Several injured in group clash

A group clash that triggered over a petty issue left several injured at Kelasuru village in Gundlupet taluk on Saturday.

It is said that there was personal rivalry between the Puttaveeranayaka and Siddanayaka groups of the village since long, which also mirrored in the last gram panchayat elections.

Rathnamma, who was working as a cook at the government higher primary school was elected in the gram panchayat elections. This led to the simmering rivalry between the groups that came to the fore. There were heated arguments between them over the demand for resignation of Rathnamma, which escalated and there were incidents of stone pelting and assault with lethal weapons.

The Saturday clash between the two groups is also said to be over the same issue.
The injured Rajanayaka, Doreswamynayaka, Chinnaswamynayaka are being treated at the government hospital. The severely injured Siddanayaka was shifted to K R Hospital in Mysore. Terakanambi Sub Inspector Shekar has registered a case.

Inspectors Ashok Kumar, and Ansar Ali visited the spot and have tightened the security.
Dy SP Basavaraju is camping at the spot. Tahsildar G N Manjunath visited the hospital and enquired health condition of the injured persons.
