CARING Esha DeolGrowing proximity to Deols

The Deols and Hema Malini’s daughters are coming closer. Hema’s daughters, Esha and Ahana, are in fact very close to their stepbrothers Sunny and Bobby Deol.

And the only reason this fact is kept hidden away from public view is because “she” wouldn’t like it.

Yes, that’s how the first Mrs Dharmendra, Prakash, is addressed. Sunny and Bobby keep their affections for their half-sisters discreetly away from the public eye but it looks like Dharmendra’s nephew Abhay and Esha share a great bond.

Esha, in fact, gets along like a house on fire with Abhay. The two spend a lot of time together, bonding unconsciously, building a bridge between the two families of Dharmendra.

Says a source, “Abhay and Esha are constantly in touch. She has taken charge of his fitness regime. Abhay is very lazy about going to the gym. Esha drags him to the gym and makes him work out. She wants him to build on his muscles while Abhay thinks the body is not quite the acting tool that he would like to use. They are constantly arguing over his laidback attitude to physical fitness.”

When asked, Esha was candid about her closeness to Abhay. “We have always been very close from our school days. I guess because now we are grown up and are known names, people want to know about us.”

She admits she has been helping Abhay with his gym regime. “I do take him for workouts. It’s always fun doing things with Abhay. We share a lovely bond. Like any brother and sister. We stay two minutes away from one another. So as and when we want to chill out together, we meet up. We also keep in touch constantly.”

Warring for the mafia queens

Bollywood has become like the stock market these days. In place of shares, the best stories and screenplays are bade upon.

One such good script is an intense book by Husain Zaidi called ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’, has drawn the attention of ace film-makers like Vishal Bhardwaj and Ram Mirchandani.

Surprisingly, it’s not only these film-makers who are contending for the rights of one of the 13 stories on the lady mafias of Mumbai but also a leading general entertainment channel.

The channel is all set to do a series based on Zaidi’s book with a 30-plus actress essaying the part of one mafia queen each, in every episode.

Shorey was the director of Chachi 420, but a fight led to Shorey being thrown out of the movie  and Kamal taking over the reins of the film. But then Kamal has done it again – this time with the director of his Sonakshi Sinha starrer Vishwaroopam.  Kamal has chucked out the director of the film Selvaraghavan from the project and is making it himself now.

Selvaraghavan walked out of the sets in a huff after Kamal told him a few things on his face about calling the shots.

A ‘Khan’tastic statistic

Salman Khan has become the only hero after Aamir Khan to join the elite ‘Rs 200 crore club’ for back-to-back Rs 100 crore hits at the Indian box office. With his latest release ‘Ready’ inching towards a Rs 100 crore collection, Salman Khan has managed to wriggle into a club that only had actor Aamir Khan as its sole occupant, with his films crossing Rs. 100 crore mark in collections at the box office. Some of the films in ‘100 Crore Film Club’ are — ‘3 Idiots’ (Rs 202 crore), Dabangg (Rs 145 crore), Ghajini (Rs 115 crore) and Golmaal 3 (Rs 108 crore). ‘Ready’ is expected to touch Rs 125 crore.

Mallika Sherawat‘Censor is like a cancer’

Thanks to her ‘I-care-two-hoots’ attitude while exposing on screen and doing bold scenes, this actress has always been on the Censor Board’s radar. But Mallika Sherawat does not care much about the restrictions as she says, “The censor  board with its sharp knife has always been after all my films since the time I made my debut. But it does not matter now. Censor is like a cancer. I will continue to do my job and the board needs to do theirs.”

From ‘Ra.One’ to Raavan

From playing the role of the famous Indian warrior Asoka to soon being a mighty superhero in his next film Ra.One, we have seen Shah Rukh Khan play every role with panache. But for the first time, we shall see him as Raavan in a campaign called Pappu and Pappa for a toothpaste. And no, this is not the same Raavan that another star played a while ago. Here, SRK takes help from mythology to teach his Pappu about good and bad, victory and loss.

SRK aka Raavan along with his germ sena fights the veer sena of his son’s toothpaste but alas, ultimately loses the battle. Just like every role he plays, SRK manages to pull this off with utmost ease and lands up being the most adorable Raavan ever.
