Airport diamond jubilee: Cultural fest from July 18

Addressing a press meet here on Monday, Cultural festival committee President M K Seetharam Kulal said District-in-Charge Minister Krishna Palemar will inaugurate. The competition will be held for the students from first to tenth standard on July 18 and 19. The competitions will include classical dance, folk dance, patriotic songs, light music, painting and, elocution. The competition for PU College students will be held on July 20. The cultural competition for degree students will be held on July 21.

There will be Tulu Bhavageethe competition for the general public on July 22, he said.  The end of each day of the fest will be marked by a two hour long Tulu drama performed by the selected teams. The drama should be based on mythology, historical or folk stories.

The selected five teams will be given Rs 2,500. The teams will be selected depending on the submission of their scripts. Interested teams can take part in the competition. The winners of the drama contest will receive Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively, Kulal informed.

The applications for the drama contest should be sent to M K Seetharam Kulal, President, Samskrithika Utsav Samithi, Benakasri, near Baliga Store, Bejai, Mangalore-575004 along with the script.
