SBI sets up 14 account tracking centres to check & monitor NPAs

Talking at the AGM he said, “Most of the restructured assets are covered by security and these accounts have been with us for several years. The underlying securities in these assets are strong. There is no deterioration in the asset quality.”

SBI has also set up 14 call centres to tract loan accounts that slipped into the NPA category. It has appointed rural recovery teams to improve the health of the farm loan portfolio. The government has given public sector banks six months till September to classify NPAs using technology under the core banking solution system.

 It is said that all chief general managers of respective call centres will coordinate to track the NPA scenario on a day-to-day basis, whose job is to give a phone call to borrowers to remind them of their outstanding loans and the advantages of repaying the loans on time.
