PC visits trouble-prone areas in Srinagar

These areas were the stronghold of stone pelters during the civilian unrest in summers of 2008, 2009 and last year.

Chidambaram visited Rajourikadal, Bohrikadal, Goojwara and Nowhatta. Interestingly, these localities are also considered the stronghold of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman of the moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference.

The Home minister also reviewed the security situation during a high-level meeting in which Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also took part.
