Revealing the case details, Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said the entire crime was pre planned by Kiran and his associates Vasanth Kumar, Dharmaprakash, Sathish alias Putta, Mohandas and Yogish.

Philomena who was traveling in the BPO’s Tata Sumo was kidnapped by Kiran and four others who were following her in a Tata Safari KA 21 M 5866 on Monday at around 2.15 pm.

A case was registered at Mangalore rural police station case under sections 342, 365, 368, 506 and IPC 34.

The police team that included ACP Subash Chandra, Inspectors Manjunath Shetty, Vinay Gaonkar and SI Prakash managed to rescue Philomena and arrest the kidnappers on Tuesday.

Kiran and Philomena who were married for almost 6 years did not share a pleasant marital relationship, Singh said and added that Philomena had already registered three cases against her husband in Kankanady Police Station and one case at Kadri Police Station. “Husband and wife’s fights are common and whenever case was registered Kiran was warned,” said the Commissioner who added that no one taught that the fight will take this turn.

Kiran was found to be of unstable mentality with psychopathic tendencies, said the Commissioner who added that Kiran claimed that the main intention of the kidnap was to have his wife back as he could not get over her and wanted to live with her.

Investigations are on to find people who have helped Kiran in this act any way possible such as giving him car, house, food and other help. “Even they will be considered as crime associates and action will be taken against them. This will give a powerful message to all,” said Singh.

The kidnappers could have been arrested much earlier in case the information about kidnap was given on time, said Singh and added that all companies especially BPOs will be issued a notice to ensure the safety of women.

Philomena and her family members will be provided protection, said the Police Commissioner.
