The Government’s clarification brought out through the Information Department comes at a time when Congress leaders are criss-crossing the State in its two-month-long campaign. Releasing the document  in Bangalore,  Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said the booklet published by the KPCC contained only “half-truths” and “irrelevant information”.

“The BJP government feels that it is better to ignore the charges (made by the Congress) rather than reacting to it. However, in order to counter the sinister attempt of influencing the people of the State to believe the misinformation as truth, the BJP government is furnishing the facts”, Yeddyurappa said. The document also trashes the Centre for meting out injustice to the State while allotting funds under different national level programmes like JnNURM, National Rural Health Mission, coal and  power allocation, among others.

The document alleges that Karnataka’s per capita grants under JnNURM is considerably less compared to Congress ruled states. While the per head allotment for Maharashtra was Rs 2,196 and Rs 1,797 for Andhra Pradesh, it was only Rs 1.355 for Karnataka.

He charged the Centre with double standards in the area of health, saying while other states were being provided Central grants under National Rural Health  Mission in the ratio of 1:2, the State was getting it only in the ratio of 1:1.

The document brought out by the Government rubbishes with statistical details the allegation made by the Congress that the State was dependent on the Central grants. It also lists out the achievements of the BJP Government during the last three years.
