Flaunting the exotic flavours of Punjab

It is such a huge hit with the locals that people from as far as Whitefield frequent it. This small haven is flocked by food lovers who munch on the popular samosas as they wait for their parathas.

Sikander Arora, the owner of the place, is usually seen frying samosas and greeting the customers with a smile. The Punjabi Samosa stuffed with aloo, paneer and peas are the most popular snacks at the place.These crisp delights are made fresh and are not as oily as one would expect them to be. After the samosas, a must have are the aloo and gobi parathas. The parathas served with a generous helping of butter and pickle are truly a gastronomical delight. The aloo methi paratha and paneer paratha are tasty and quite popular with the customers. Even price wise, the ‘Punjabi Food Corner’ is an affordable affair with aloo parathas priced at Rs 20.

For those keen on phulka and sabji, they offer phulkas priced at Rs 5 and variety of curries. Of the curries offered, dal makhani is a must have, made of black dal, this simple dish leaves one craving for more.

The other specialities they offer are the baingan bhartha and rajma masala which are deliciously authentic.

Everything that is served at the joint is makhan maar ke (with a slap of butter) in the truly Punjabi way and people are seen savouring the large dollops of butter with delight.     Chillies too are offered in plenty to add spice to the parathas.

Paneer lovers have a host of curries to choose from. From the conventional palak paneer to the elaborate shahi paneer, each is a lip-smacking adventure of its own.

In terms of dessert, they offer the delicious Punjabi kheer and moong dal halwa providing the perfect after taste for a meal. Sikander Arora, on his reason for starting the joint said, “I always liked cooking since I was a child, so opening a eating joint was a natural thing  to do.”   Srinivas and Chetna, regulars at the joint, say, “The food is very tasty here and we can vouch by the authenticity.
