Addressing a news conference, Kateel said that a total of Rs 3.61 crore has been released under MPLAD during 2009-10 (Rs two crore) and 2010-11 (Rs 1.61 cr). Of this, proposals for 110 work of Rs 2.7 crore was submitted during 2009-10 and proposal for 52 work of Rs one crore was submitted during 2010-11. A total of Rs 1.59 crore was released and 70 per cent of the works have been completed.

“The work report has to be sent to the MPLAD office, New Delhi, which is uploaded on the website. In case of all other MPs who have not even done half the work done by me, the details have been uploaded on the site from time to time. My works have not been uploaded,” he said asking the officials for an answer.

The officials said that there is some technical problem due to which it is not being uploaded. Raged by this answer, MP asked why the technical problem has occurred only in his case and not for other MPs. He alleged the officials of not sending the report to the head office. He asked the officials to send the monthly work progress reports promptly without fail.

Expressing contempt over delay in execution of work from MCC and Zilla Panchayat, he gave an ultimatum of one week for both the governing bodies to clear off files relating to pending works.

“If the MCC and ZP fails to do the needful then, I will scrap off those proposals and send fresh proposals,” he said.

Kateel informed that the CM has sanctioned Rs six crore for solving problems persisting in the interior areas of Mangalore constituency. He said that Rs two crore has been released to develop rural roads which had been damaged during the monsoon last year.
