“It is said that the rural folks who show great interest in purchasing a mobile phone, take little interest in building a toilet in their home,” said District-in-Charge Minister Suresh Kumar.

He said that district should be prominently visible in the race for Nirmal Gram Puraskar and people should work with the single aim of reaching at the top place in the country in the TSC. “Every house in the village should have a toilet. This will bring about great revolution in the health scenario in the villages,” he said.

Endorsing his views, MLA C T Ravi said that open defacation bring a host of diseases and hence people should imbibe the culture of using toilets, in rural areas. He told the Gram Panchayats to impose penalty on people who do not use toilets and go for open defacation.

Deputy Commissioner Rangaswamy, Zilla Panchayat CEO Himavantha Gopal among others were present.
