Two arrested for fake job racket

A team of the City Crime Branch (CCB) raided their office on Race Course Road and seized documents, photocopies of answerscripts of examinations conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) and Rs 20,000 in cash.

The duo would identify unemployed youth and advise them not to attend the questions in the exam for which they didn’t know the answer. They would tell the aspirants that they had their ‘men’ in the KPSC, who would help them clear the exam. In return, they demanded money from the youth.

Iranian held for cheating

AmeenJP Nagar police arrested an Irani national in a cheating case recently. The suspect is Ameen D (28) from J P Nagar 7th phase. Police said Ameen came to Bangalore in 2002 for higher education. He completed BPharma course from Oxford College in JP Nagar.

He started introducing Irani students to his college and earned commission. He allegedly collected Rs 6.5 lakh from C Hussaini Poura, promising him a seat in the college. Ameen paid only Rs one lakh to the college and pocketed the rest. 

3 women rescued

The City police claimed to have busted a prostitution racket and arrested Vinaykumar Pujari of Udupi.

On a tip, they raided an apartment in KR Puram on Wednesday and rescued Shweta Rajput, Kamala Devi and Anu Rajput, all aged around 20. Another suspect, Mahendra Kotiyan, who is also from Udupi district, is absconding.

The suspects trafficked women from Rajasthan and employed them in Kotiyan’s dance bar off Brigade Road in the City, police said.

He had rented the apartment  for the women whom he forced to “work” in the bar and pushed them into prostitution.
