Gowda's hunger strike on June 27

The hunger strike is being held in protest against the government’s alleged acts of corruption and the step-motherly treatment meted out to the constituencies represented by JD(S) MLAs.

Gowda told a press conference here on Friday that he would hold a peaceful protest and that he would not give up his agitation even if he is sent to jail. The former prime minister said that funds had not been released to Hassan district in the past three years.

The students of the Hassan Medical College had been put to inconvenience as the government had not started classes for the fifth semester, he said.
