Nitin Gadkari sets goal for CM

Last Updated 24 June 2011, 18:50 IST

“Let people (Opposition leaders) speak whatever they want. Do not bother about politics. Fix your goals for development and go ahead,” Gadkari told the chief minister at the 94th annual general meeting of the Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries. He asked Yeddyurappa not to fret about any allegation.

JD(S) leader Kumaraswamy had recently levelled a fresh allegation against Yeddyurappa of buying a cement factory and subsequently allotting limestone quarries to it by throwing rules to the winds. He had released documents to the media in New Delhi to back his allegation.

Yeddyurappa also received a pat on the back for attracting Rs four lakh crore investment through Global Investors’ Meet,  presenting a separate budget for agriculture and promoting bio fuel production and use. Gadkari also advocated the need for politics of development and highlighted impediments for the comprehensive development of the country. The BJP will shortly release India vision 2025 document, which will be the party’s official development plan for the country, he said.

FKCCI President N S Srinivasa Murthy urged Yeddyurappa not to accept the Centre’s plan to allow foreign direct investment in multi-brand retail in city limits as it would result in unemployment. He also appealed to both the Centre and the State to take appropriate steps to contain rising inflation.
