Shahrukh, who arrived here this morning, received a rapturous welcome by hysterical fans who waited patiently outside the Fairmont York Hotel for hours to catch a good glimpse of him.

His performance was supposed to be one of the major highlights of the show tomorrow, but the superstar said given the condition of his injured knee, it looked doubtful.

However, Shahrukh who is known for his intelligent one-liners, promised to entertain his fans, and is sure to add the much-needed starry quotient to IIFA which are being skipped this year by Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan.

"I am doubtful if I can perform. But, I will see how I can entertain my fans. I am happy to attend IIFA after a gap of six years," he said. He had last attended the IIFA weekend in Amsterdam in 2005.

Outside the hotel where a red carpet was rolled out for him, the atmosphere was of frenzy with fans jostling with media persons to have a look of the actor.

"King Khan" and "Shahrukh look up," shouted young girls and not-so-young women as the actor was mobbed by the waiting mediapersons for sound bites.

"Move away," fans shouted at the media."Shahrukh look up," they asked and were readily obliged by the actor, who looked up, waved and blew kisses at each and every direction where the fans had gathered.
