The tiger came from Pirkhali jungle of Sundarbans Tiger Reserve and crossed Garal river to enter Emilybari village, they said, adding that the animal killed two goats from the house of a villager and was spotted when eating beside a bush.
The villagers threw fishing nets on the tiger and circled the animal at a spot on the side of the river, the officials said.
Forest department officials have reached the spot and the tiger will be tranquilised soon, they said.
