A stable government at the Centre can handle the recession, he said while addressing the 13th convocation of post graduate diploma in management (PGDM) at the Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME).

Dr Natarajan said the current IT industry was not merely about programming but about understanding the business and translating it into a requirement. He firmly believed that there would be several fold increase in job opportunities in the IT sector and the figures were expected to grow from the current 45 lakh to three crore.

He told the students not to merely search for jobs that could take them abroad and build a career there. There is great potential in India and politics too could be a career.

"Think of a public life also. Politics too needs good people. Do not focus merely on jobs. Opportunities will rebound. Whatever you do, do it with passion, if you want to achieve success," Dr Natarajan advised.

Sarosh Ghandy,  former managing director of Telco Construction Equipment Company Limited, advised the students to elevate themselves spiritually. "Listen to your soul because it shows the truth whereas mind gives the half truth that is churned out of the past experience and the half truth is always that which is convenient to you,"
Prof SL Rao released a book Global Management Education, authored by Prof J Philip and Prof Ravindranathan.
