Congress calls CM a liar

His earlier statement of taking part in the truth test in Dharmasthala too has turned out be a lie. Now Sullia Block Congressmen are eagerly waiting to hear yet another lie which the Chief Minister would utter in front of the God in Subrahmanya, said Sullia Block Congress President M Venkappa.

Speaking to the media persons on Sunday, he recalled the Chief Minister’s assurances during his visit to Sullia two months back.

“The CM who had appeared as if he had come to rescue the areca farmers has not fulfilled any of his promises. His other promises were cancelling the order of Kumki land acquisition, releasing the fund to support areca price, developing Sullia-Subrahmanya road at a cost of Rs 65 crore, developing the rural roads at Rs 25 crore among others. All these assurances have not been realised so far,” criticised Venkappa.

“Despite the CM’s assurance, the land records of Kumki land owner are sent to the Revenue Department inMysore. If this continues, then the farmers will lose their land. The farmers should unite and fight to convert the land under Akrama-Sakrama. If at all the land acquisition continues, the government will have to face severe agitation from the farmers,” he warned and requested the local BJP leaders to pressurise the CM to solve the issue.

The temples are the sacred places. The CM should not damage the sacredness of temple for his personal benefit. The politicians must stop taking the Gods in a light way, he said.

Venkappa Gowda criticised the Chief Minister for showing disrespect to the Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat members by not inviting them for the programmes he would participate.

“During the tenure of Dharam Singh the Taluk Panchayat, Zilla Panchayat members were invited for the function irrespective of party differences. But the CM’s programme in Dakshina Kannada appears like a party programme held under the government’s banner. The district administration has to correct the fault,” he  urged.

He questioned the necessity of adding Nagaraj Shetty and Ganesh Karnik in the guests list of the Monday’s programme in Subrahmanya , when the elected representatives themselves have not been invited.
