Clear Scalp

But over time, one has seen that even men care about their mane as much as women. Recently in Mumbai, Unilever company launched a new range of anti-dandruff shampoos for men and women called ‘New Clear’.

Though there are so many anti-dandruff shampoos in the market, this particular one stands out because it  has a special scalp nutrient technology that prevents
the dandruff from coming back.

Said Rajnikant Sabnavis, Regional Category Vice President - Hair, South Asia, Unilever, “Before launching the shampoo in the market, we had conducted a global scalp analysis survey.”

“In this, we found that nearly 70 per cent of Indian consumers polled, suffered from dandruff in the past 12 months and one of their biggest issues with the existing shampoos in the market were that it either dried the hair or the dandruff came back,” he
said.

Taking the consumers inputs and the expertise of a team of dermatologists from the International Academy of Dermatology, the concept of Clear shampoo was conceived.

“The shampoo is the solution for a healthier and dandruff-free scalp. Scientists and experts at Unilever are constantly working to develop new, innovative technologies
and products that will provide the best solutions to our consumers,” said Piyush Jain, General Manager, Hair Care, Hindustan Unilever Limited.

Commenting on why the brand decided to have different shampoos for men and women, Meena Rajan, R&D Director - Hair, South Asia, Unilever said, “During our tests and
clinical research, it became apparent that male and female scalps had physiological differences and that was one of the main reasons why one shampoo wouldn’t treat the dandruff permanently.”

Aparna Santhanam, consulting dermatologist and cosmetologist, explained that even if the dandruff problem is permanently solved one must use an anti-dandruff shampoo at least once a week.

“The scalp undergoes a lot of changes everyday and using an anti-dandruff
shampoo at least once a week helps in maintaining the condition of the scalp,” she added.
