Enthusiastic lot

The students seemed to have come well-prepared for the quiz. Their competitive spirit soared amidst loud cheering. There were 151 teams from 41 schools and colleges for the preliminary round. All in all there were 25 questions in the written round in various subjects from art, culture, personalities, science to current issues.

After completing their preliminary round, Arun and Prayaag, class X students of Sri Aurobindo Memorial School said the quiz was a bit tough. “We were happy when we heard about this competition. As it is at the beginning of the academic year, we didn’t have much to study and had ample time to update ourselves on current issues and General Knowledge,” they said.

The top eight teams were selected for the final round. Anand M S, President of the ‘Quotient Quiz Club’ hosted the competition which comprised five different formats. After a tough battle, Pranav Chakravarthy and Abhishek Shetty of Sri Kumaran’s PU College bagged the ‘Dr MR Doreswamy Trophy for Quizzing Excellence’.

Jeydev C S and Pranav K from Frank Anthony Public School and Athith K and Shubham Nandy from Sri Kumaran’s Children Home secured second and third place respectively. PSBB Leadership Academy was awarded as the ‘Best School Team’. Anand M S said that the whole event was organised by the students.

“All the members of ‘Quotient Quiz Club’ took an active part in organising the event. Nearly 25 volunteers put their heart and soul in preparing the questions, co-ordinating with schools and managing the whole event. We have awarded the winners with coupons to buy books to cultivate the habit of reading among the the young,” he said.

A book ‘KryptonITe’, written by Raveesh K Mayya, an alumnus of PESIT was also launched on the occasion. Dr K N B Murthy, Principal of PESIT and Milind Naik, CEO of Pappilon Software Solutions released the book about IT quizzing.
