Rains recede in DK, Udupi

 In the last 24 hours, Belthangady has received 95.6 mm followed by Puttur 70 mm, Bantwal 49.8 mm, Mangalore 43.2 mm, and Sullia 39.6 mm rainfall. The water level in Nethravathi in Bantwal was 4.3 metres, in Uppinangady it was 15 metres. As many as 10 houses have been partially damaged in the district and the loss is estimated at Rs 57,000.

A huge tree was uprooted and fell on road at Kemmayi in Puttur, thus disrupting the movement of vehicles for four hours.

A foot bridge which was constructed across Madisalu stream to connect Belmaru Kolalagiri 10 years ago, collapsed owing to the heavy rains on Saturday. In the last 24 hours, Udupi district received 46.73 mm rainfall. Two houses were damaged in Airodi village in Udupi, incurring a loss of Rs 25,000. Udupi taluk received 32 mm, Kundapur 21,60 mm and Karkala 86.60 mm rainfall.
