Volleyball: World U-21 meet: Belarus score over Tunisia

Iran scored its third win against Egypt 3-1 (25-9, 19-25, 25-21, 25-20) on the third day of round 1 at Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex at Balewadi.

Farhad Ghaemi stared for Iran with a match high 14 points that came off 19 smashes while Sasan Dejara and Reza Safaei contributed with eight points each.

Cuba pulled off a narrow 3-2 (23-25, 25-22, 25-16, 22-25, 15-13) win over France in Pool C.
Cuba and France are tied at five points each to remain in contention for the second spot in the second round, though the Cuban outfit is ahead of France in terms of the points ratio.

Cuban Wilfredo Leon Venero spearheaded the attack with 24 points and Rolando Cepeda Abreu added 23 points to help them in the win.

In another Pool B match, Belgium stormed into the second round of the championship with a commanding 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-22) victory over China.

Kevin Klinkberg remained Belgium’s key attacker with 11 points while Sam Deroo (10) and Pieter Verhees (7) played an able hand. China, who have won one match and lost two, are out of contention for the second round.

Belarus registered a comfortable 3-1 (24-26, 26-24, 25-17, 25-17)  win over Tunisia. Putting their height advantage to good use, the Belerusians improved their chances of making it to the second round.
