Dedicated: Ajay Devgan in Singham. In freezing cold water

There is a lot of buzz around Rohit Shetty’s next flick — Singham. Ajay Devgan’s body has been the talk of the town ever since the first trailer released. However, what fans do not know is the amount of hard work that the actor put in for every scene in which his body looks so ‘drool-worthy’. One such scene is the one where a bare-chested Ajay, looking every bit of his macho cop avatar, emerges from the water. Though the scene looks very simple, the catch was the weather during the shoot.

The scene was shot in Panchagani late in the night when the temperature dropped drastically below zero degree. On one hand, where the entire unit was dressed in sweaters and jackets, on the other hand, our hero was supposed to do a bare body scene in freezing cold water.

Everyone on the set was hesitant about letting Ajay do the shot as nobody wanted him to fall sick. Ajay, however, put all their apprehensions to rest and went on to give a brilliant shot even in that kind of weather.

Obsessing over dates

Bollywood seems to be working backwards. Film-makers, obsessed with release dates, are now announcing the day when their film will hit the marquee even before shooting a single frame. For example, Salman Khan starrer Ek Tha Tiger will be released on June 1, 2012 and Sohail Khan’s Sher Khan with Salman will be an Eid release next year.

Then there is Aamir Khan-starrer Dhoom 3 that will hit the screens during the Christmas season next year. Not a single frame of any of these films has been shot.

But producers have sent out press releases and signals confirming the release
dates.

After his acclaimed performance in his latest release Shaitan, Rajeev Khandelwal has gone ‘hot’, literally, with ‘Fever’. This handsome and talented actor has travelled to Europe for the shoot of his next project ‘Fever’, where he plays the character of a suave, hot and enigmatic man. His good looks and urbane charm will definitely flutter the hearts of all the women young at heart.

His eyes have the truthfulness that reflects a clear soul which is his connect with the audience. ‘Fever’ is a romantic mystery,” comments writer-director Rajeev Jhaveri.

Fabulous visual effects

After the success of ‘X-Men: First Class’, Fox Star Studios is bringing to you a mind blowing saga from yet another one of its popular franchises.

Before ‘Star Wars’ gave birth to generations of fanatics, before ‘Spiderman’ caught on in syndication, before ‘Harry Potter’ made kids read books again, 1968’s ‘Planet Of The Apes’ launched the first fanboy phenomenon. A box-office smash, the movie was considered as one of the greatest classics of celluloid science fiction, and spawned a series of 1970s’ films, TV shows, a merchandising tie-in bonanza, a misguided Tim Burton remake and now, one of the most anticipated films of this year — ‘Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes’.

‘Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes’ is a high octane action-packed thriller, in which dangers of science leads to intelligence in apes and a challenge to humans as the dominant species on the planet. It stars the dashing Oscar nominated actor of ‘127 Hours’ fame James Franco and India’s very own ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ girl, Freida Pinto.

Oscar-winning New Zealand-based digital effects house Weta Digital, which has created masterpieces such as ‘Avatar’, ‘The Lord Of The Rings’ trilogy and ‘King Kong’, has expanded upon its Academy Award-winning work to render, for the first time ever in the film series, photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors. This technology allows audiences to emotionally engage with a lead character, a chimpanzee named Caesar, who does not actually exist.

Says director Rupert Wyatt, “When you have an opportunity to work with Weta and what they can achieve with motion capture technology, you take it,” says Wyatt. “We are at the dawn of a whole new age for motion capture photography and we are using that technology to tell a whole story about the dawn of a new civilisation, which is really exciting.”

Well, we are sure fans just cannot wait to catch this larger-than-life visual effects extravaganza as its hits theatres on August 5.
