Kodagu ZP offices to have CCTVs soon

Installation will cost about Rs 90,000

Speaking to presspersons, Zilla Panchayat CEO Mirja Akbarulla said that in the initial phase, CCTV will be installed at ZP deputy Secretary’s office, parishath, Chief Accountants office and planning section. It has been decided to keep an eye on the functioning of the personnel from next week.

“There are complaints that Zilla Panchayat officials come and go according to their whims and fancies. Some employees leaving the office by 4 pm has also been brought to my notice. In this background, to bring in discipline it has been decided to install CCTV. In the interest of the public, officials must be in the office during the working hours,” he informed.

A sum of Rs 90,000 will be spent on the installation of CCTVs. The related works for the installation of the TV has already been completed.

NREGS

Akbarulla said a sum of Rs 6.6 crore has been utilised under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) last year. A sum of Rs 44 lakh has been utilised this year till April. A sum of Rs 2 crore needs to be spent this year.

“It has been decided to reach the target of total cleanliness drive in 2010-11. In this background, it has been decided to construct toilets in 98 gram panchayat limits. “So far, we have achieved only 35 per cent progress in the district. At present, the financial assistance of Rs 2,500 is given for the construction of toilets. To reach the target it has been decided to give additional Rs 500 from Gram Panchayat for the SC/ST beneficiaries to construct toilets.”

Rs 83 lakh released

The CEO said that under Suvarna Grama yojane, Rs 83 lakh has been released for 2009-10. The selected villages are Peraje, Kathooru Moornadu, Maragodu, Kundacheri, Karada, Nellihudikeri, Andagove, Kumbooru, Basavanahalli, Kaikeri, Aravathoklu, Mekooru Hoskeri, Mathurur and Puliyeri.

Akbarulla said Balugodu Ekalavya Residential School warden Balu has been deputed to ITDP department. However, he has been asked to remain in the hostel temporarily to assist the Principal of the school.

“Balu who has been working as hostel warden is a daily wage labourer. As a result, we can not suspend him from the service. Since Balu himself had requested for a transfer, we have deputed him to ITDP department. Measures have been taken to set right the irregularities in Balugodu Ekalavya Residential School. We will not allow such irregularities in the school henceforth,” he added.

Land Army Corporation has assured to hand over the new Zilla Panchayat building next to Taluk Panchayat office before August 15. “If the building is handed over within stipulated period, then Zilla Panchayat office will be shifted to the new building by September end,” he informed.
