Varsity finds harassed scholar's behaviour unacceptable

Last Updated 16 July 2011, 17:38 IST

According to sources, the registrar of the varsity has issued a memo dated July 14 to the scholar asking her to reply in five days, failing which the University will take unilateral action against her.

The notice has also threatened to keep her research project under suspension.

Baseless statements

The notice said: “Despite taking measures to provide relief in the case, you (Saritha) are indulging in issuing baseless statements to the media. It is against the decorum of the institute. It has come to the notice of the Syndicate, and it was found in its meeting held on July 13 that, the very behaviour is bringing disrepute to the esteemed institute, besides vitiating the atmosphere.”

The registrar has further asked the victim, as to why shouldn’t the varsity keep the project under suspension, besides withdrawing the facilities? The reply, in writing, should be given to the varsity through the chairman of Zoology.

Also, why shouldn’t the varsity initiate action for the misbehaviour?

The reply in writing again should be submitted within five days of receiving the memo. In case of no reply, the varsity will take unilateral action.
