The incident took place around 3 pm on Suranjan Das Road, Jeevan Bhima Nagar.
Arvind, an employee of RNZ on Old Madras Road, told the police he was carrying Rs 10 lakh in cash to deposit it in his sister’s account in ICICI Bank on Richmond Road. The bank refused to accept the money without the account holder’s PAN card.

Arvind, a resident of Chalaghatta, later dropped his sister at her office on the Old Air Port  Road and was driving through Suranjan Das Road when two bike-borne men overtook his SUV and told him the vehicle fuel tank was leaking.

Arvind got out to check the leak and minutes later, he found the cash bag missing from the navigator’s seat.

Police said the culprits, in their mid-thirties, were not wearing helmets and spoke in fluent Hindi. “This incident is not new. We have been constantly receiving such complaints. People are aware of attention-diverting conmen, but they still walk into their trap,” police officer told Deccan Herald.

Footage from CCTV cameras installed at the bank and outside is likely to help crack the case, police said.

Based on the snaps, police arrested Subbaiah, a native of Tamil Nadu and employed with the MEG and Centre, Ulsoor.

On Saturday evening, Ramesh and Chandrashekar were travelling on a motorcycle in front of the Vidhana Soudha.
